Many people ask why I choose to work with Pit Bulls. There are a number of reasons why the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is my breed of choice. They are
intelligent, loyal, beautiful, loving, and playful.
But I would have to say that my number one reason is that the Pit Bull has a love for life that I have yet to see in another breed. They are open and bold, courageous
and dignified. They were bred for game (the willingness to continue on regardless) and game is what they have. They have a strong desire to excel and please and
they will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
It is these traits that make the APBT such a wonderful working dog. APBT's can be found working with the police departments as patrol dogs as well as drug and
explosive detection. They are seen on Search and Rescue teams working hard to find both the living and dead in the wilderness, on the water, and in disaster
situations. They fought along side our soldiers during WWI. They perform a variety of tasks as Service Dogs. They also give their love as therapy dogs.

INARA'S STORY
Inara is a beautiful White and Red Brindle American Pit Bull Terrier that I got from Mountain Creek Kennels. .
I received a call one night from a friend about a puppy that was in need of a good home. As she told me more, I found out that the puppy was deaf. The breeder
wanted to be sure that the puppy went to a good home that could take care of her special needs.
Later that night, I called and talked to the breeder, Missy, about the puppy. After talking for a while, I agreed to take the puppy.
Four weeks later, my friend Jon and I drove to Virginia and brought Inara home.
Bringing this puppy into my home has truly been a blessing. Inara upholds her breeds personality to its fullest. She is outgoing, brave, playful, smart, and most
important, loving!

The Number 1 reason for owning an APBT?
They will steal your heart like a thief in the night, showing you complete and pure love that only a Pit Bull can show.

The other Pit Bulls in my life, my home, and my heart!

Minerva McGonagall (Minerva or Min for short) is my first Pit Bull
and the cause for my passion for the breed. She was born in
August 2005. Her mom and litter mates were rescued by St.
Mary's Animal Welfare League where I adopted her from. A very
good friend of mine was fostering the litter and choose Minerva
out of the litter for me. She felt her personality suited mine and
she was dead on. Thanks Tammy for bringing this great girl into
my life!!!
I was first going to train Min for Search and Rescue, but quickly
found out she didn't have the right personality and drive. She still
made a great demo dog to show off the basic training skills of a
beginning dog. In this picture, she is at a demo and waiting to
"play" while I am talking to the crowd. In case your wondering,
her leash isn't attached to anything but her collar. I work very
hard on all of my dog's basic obedience commands. :o)
The pictures above are of my friend Nicki and her father. These were taken during Minerva's second
job while she was training to act as my service dog. I am no longer in need of her assistance and
she has since been retired. Nicki's dad lost his legs in a terrible accident. Minerva dutifully took care
of him while we were all enjoying the festivities of the PA Ren Faire. Nicki is a passionate writer.

Minerva and Brom snuggled up for a very rare sleep in on a
Saturday morning.
Brom came to me as a rescue from North Carolina. A posting for him came across our My Space page, The Good Dog! Gang. This
adorable little fellow had been abandoned on someone's doorstep at the mere age of one day! To learn more about Brom and his
struggle to survive, please click on either of the pictures above.
